Particle Motion Sensor

Low-Frequency particle motion sensing

The M20 family is a group of sensors that measure particle motion with high sensitivity and good directivity down to very low frequencies.

GeoSpectrum’s particle motion sensors are accelerometer-based and are used to measure 2D or 3D particle motion or as a low-frequency directional hydrophone in a broad range of environments—from within 1 m of an air gun to quiet ocean environments.

Because the sensor maintains good directivity to very low frequencies, it also supports acoustic applications requiring good low-frequency bearing detection in a very small package.

Description

The M20 is an excellent choice for applications benefiting from direct measurement of particle motion. GeoSpectrum’s particle motion sensors are suitable for a variety of different applications including marine mammal detection, ocean environmental monitoring, antisubmarine warfare (ASW), marine surveillance, offshore oil and gas monitoring, and offshore wind farm monitoring.
