TRAPS – USV

Game changing Unmanned ASW capability

TRAPS-USV is the ultra-compact variant of the TRAPS (Towed Reelable Active Passive Sonar) system suitable for deployment from smaller platforms and Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). It is an active Low Frequency Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) providing high performance ASW capability to USVs as small as 12 m long. TRAPS-USV provides a unique combination of high performance, small dimensions and low weight due to the patented TRAPS family feature allowing the active source to be reeled on the winch and eliminating the need for a dedicated bulky over-boarding system. Like its’ larger variant TRAPS, TRAPS-USV incorporates advanced sonar control and processing designed to support distributed and remote processing.

Description

TRAPS-USV provides game changing capability to deploy LF active VDS from small and unmanned vessels. As unmanned systems play a growing role in modern ASW operations, a high performance ASW sonar for unmanned systems is a force multiplying asset. TRAPS-USV is yet another step in the TRAPS innovation to provide high performance ASW capabilities in compact form and affordable costs.
