M670 HMS – Hull-Mounted Sonar

The M670 HMS provides surface ships with concurrent, high-performance active and passive sonar capability for the detection, classification, tracking, and localization of underwater targets. It allows the detection of submarines, torpedoes, and mid-water mines and obstacles. Its compact form enables integration in a wide variety of new or upgraded naval vessels. M670 HMS cost-effectiveness makes it a wise and affordable choice for navies seeking a high-performance ASW capability for open-sea as well as littoral environments. Sonar processing is performed by GeoSpectrum’s sensor agnostic RecView system providing flexible waveforms and optimal detection performance and enabling seamless integration with additional ASW systems such as towed array sonar and sonobuoy processor

Description

The M670 HMS can be readily operated for ASW operations and torpedo and mine detection and alert. As a hull-mounted sonar it does not require launch and recovery operations. The HMS can be operated stand-alone or interfaced to the CMS. It can be augmented by and fully interoperable with a towed array sonar such as GeoSpectrum’s Towed Reelable Active Passive Sonar (TRAPS) enabling bi —static and multi – static operations. M670 HMS can also be part of integrated ASW suite including multiple sonars, Torpedo defense systems, underwater communication and Bathythermograph systems.
